I found Betrayal of Faith by Mark M. Bellow to be very captivating. This book follows the journey of two boys and their mother as they fight for justice against a powerful organization. The two boys are hurt by a priest, which lays the foundation for the remainder of the book. The mother enlists the help of a previously used lawyer by the name of Blake. However, this lawyer is at rock bottom and not sure if he is up to the task. Along the way, Blake has to find his spark again if he is going to succeed in providing much needed justice. Between Blake and his private investigator, Micah, they stumble across an organization whosse actions are for worse then originally thought. This organization makes sure tht wrongs are swept under the rug by whatever means neccesary, including geath. This book keeps you asking the same thing over and over. Will courage stay strong in order to reap justice?
There are many elements that kept the book intriguing. One was the cat and mouse game throughout. The pendulum would sway between the two sides which kept you guessing until the end which one was going to ultimately be victorious. Another element was the underlying theme of good versus evil, but presented in a unique way. Normally a priest and the organized church are portrayed as the good, but in this book they were actually considered to be the evil. This book was also set up well. It was divided into three parts, those being the foundation, the climax, and then the resolution. This set up gave the text good flow and separation at the sme time.
The only element that I disliked was the length of some of the legal descriptions. To me, those were unnecesary to the overall flow. Otherwise, it was extremely well written.
I would give this book four out of four stars. It was exceptionally well edited and the story line and characters were well developed. The characters were all different so added the right dynamics when needed to keep you wanting to turn page after page. There were twists and the author did not give away the resolution until the last few pages. There was also some romance mixed in there was well.
I envision this book appealing to a large range of people. The main audience would be those into thriller and mystery type genres. The romantic side of the book has the capability to draw females into the story as well.
