This sounds an intriguing story with many twists and turns. I laud the author for describing the particular content without explicit violence and something else. Thanks for this great review.

The lack of graphic details may not be for true-blue followers of the genre but may turn out advantageous in enticing non-fans to perhaps try it out. The insidious theme may be too much to slide this piece outside its current classification, though.

Great review!

Although the crime/mystery isn't really my cup of tea, character development is. It sounds as if the author did an admirable job of portraying the thoughts and emotions Astrid was experiencing during her stay at Dark River and the discovery of their secret. I'll probably take a pass on this one, but thanks for the impressive review!!

She certainly captured Astrid's experience in details. I've enjoyed reading your comment, Kelyn, thanks for the input.

I am a bit surprised that there were no graphic scenes of romance or violence when Astrid seems to have stumbled upon the Dark River secret cabin. The story sounds like there were some dangerous situations, but Astrid survived them.

Thrillers and romance are my favorite genres and this novel seems to combine them in quite an intriguing and engaging way. The plot summary you made absolutely captured me. The editing mistakes can be quite annoying but, hopefully, they will get fixed.
This one goes to my to-read shelf! Thank you!

That's right, there weren't, and she did survive those parlous encounters. It certainly wasn't a rosy period of her life, but there's comfort in the knowledge that there was hope for her. Thanks a ton for dropping by!

In my opinion, this is a very good review! Even though I probably wouldn't choose to read this book, I enjoyed reading your review and "lived the story" throughout your words. Well done! The description of characters you gave was well put. I would have also taken a star because of the loose ends.
