I wasn't sure about reading this book two when I haven't read book one, but you mentioned that it could be read as a stand-alone. Goldman knows what Jake and Judge Roth did as high schoolers and holds that above their heads to get Roth to let Goldman's mafia clients get off lightly from their crimes. I wonder what Judge Roth's airtight plan is to silence Goldman.

This review was very enjoyable to read. As a fan of this genre, I found the storyline highly interesting. It is surprising how the past often catches up with us, even when we least expect it. I would like to find out what foolproof plan Al concocts to get ahead of the situation.

In this mobster tale there is no good guy. Skeletons never stay in the closet. As I generally don't like books about gangs, court, or blackmail, I don't think this book is for me.

A dark past that lies in Al's life, and it can destroy his present as a fair judge! This plot sounds exciting. I do not like much going back and forth when reading, but I think flashbacks are sometimes necessary to make the plot go on. Thanks for the review!
