Judging from the review this may be one detective book that I would be interested in reading. I like the idea of 25 short stories since it does usually seem to take a while to be able to get into police or crime stories with the stories being short I am sure that everything will be thrown at me right from the beginning.

I like mysteries and crime stories, but I wasn't interested in what I read in the sample. Different strokes for different folks right? :)

The FBI Inspector by Jay Dubya contains twenty-five different detective stories, and the central idea of each story is the motivation behind the crime, and the detective has to uncover this riddle.

As I was reading the first short story, it reminded me of the TV show Dragnet; the dry humor and just the basic facts to solve the crime. Normally I don't read this genre of books, but would if I couldn't find something else to read.

Compilations of short stories can be good, but there is no comparison to full novels which can be fleshed out. Also, the fact that there are a good amount of errors makes me less likely to read this book.

You had me until you mentioned this is a collection of 25 short stories. Anthologies don't typically work for me, I just find it hard to feel invested when it comes to short fiction, but I suppose if you like mysteries and are reading it for the detective investigations, this will do perfectly! Thanks for the review!

Thank you for a wonderful review. This book seems to be very interesting but really does not appeal to me. I do believe however that anyone interested in crime novels will enjoy it thoroughly

Fantastic review! As I was going through it, the very obvious question popped in my mind. If this book focusses so much on brainstorming, there can not be much place for actions. As much as I like using the 'grey cells', team work and action are things which I will look for in detective stories. However, I will still want to read this. Thanks for clarifying various aspects of the book such as the writing style and the point of view, etc.

Mysteries stories are my third choice for books, but the review gave me something to look forward such as how the stories are based ratiocination and each story have a different crime motivation. I agreed 100% on the way Daniya says the main ideas is to think like the criminal to find where he might be, these lines remind of Criminal Minds Tv Show. So, I will this book a go and hopefully have the same conclusion as this very insightful review.

Thank you!

A collection of detective stories just created a "yeha" effect in me. Definitely on my shelf!

If the language of the review is any indication of the book, I will probably have to look up several words, which can diminish my enjoyment. However I do like short stories so I may still give this book a try as they are all short stories with one common character linking them all together.

I love a good short story compendium, and this one sounds absolutely fantastic with its 19th century detective novel style to it.

I love good detective stories. Maybe if this one was better edited, I'd give it a go. But as it stands this is going in the nope pile.

Well, I'm still contemplating this one. I like that the protagonist is heavily observant, and that the detective work is based on logic. I'd be bothered by the idea-withholding character trait of Joe, but I'd like to enjoy Salvatore 's comic diffusion of tensed situations. Thanks for the clear review.

Detective-based stories ranging from theft to murder sounds like a treat for those who enjoy such stories. It's good to know that the omniscient narrator perspective is used well throughout and that the reader can get in the mind of many characters. I'm glad that you liked the bonding of the four main characters and that the author was able to clearly describe the hard work that goes into an investigation. Too bad about the errors you found, but I'm glad that you enjoyed the read regardless. Thanks for sharing!
