Review of A Cancer in the Kingdom

[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "A Cancer in the Kingdom" by Niels Andersen.]
The MiddleEast-SouthwestAsia section (author's spelling), known as MESA, was one of the busiest in the CIA these days because the Islamic Caliphate is determined to unite all Islamic countries at the beginning of A Cancer in the Kingdom by Niels Andersen. The action definitely did not slow down during this story.
Determined to stop the Caliphate is Zack Gerlacher, the CIA's sector commander, who oversees Karim Rezek, a Muslim who is one of the foremost experts on the region. The team reports to the national security advisor.
Retired Major General Charles Estes, who serves under President Carson, a newly elected leader who approaches problems from the standpoint of solutions rather than political implications, will oversee many operations.
The team has intercepted messages in the Gods of Conquest game that an attack on Jeddah, the gateway to the cities of Mecca and Medina, is planned because it is the start of Hajj, the holy pilgrimage for Muslims to Mecca, and sowing distrust in Islamic pilgrims will allow the creation of a unified Caliphate under a single leader, the Caliph, merging the bloodlines of Mohammed and Ali. Secondly, there may be an assassination attempt on Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Kahled bin Al-Faisal, who is scheduled to be in Jeddah to meet with several European defense industry executives. The attack, which could be the biggest threat ever faced by the Saudi monarch, may happen in the next 48 hours. It is possible the Caliphate has already infiltrated the senior staff of Al A’amah Intelligence Agency, the National Police, and the royal family. Can the Caliphate be stopped?
The president also wants a specialized team from private corporation SA2, which is headed by Chief Operations Officer Grigor Sabah on the ground. This team will be headed by CIA Agent Seth Jericho. His significant other, Kirkorian, who is also Grigor's niece, will be on the team as will Ebrahim, former Secret Service agent Delgado, and former FBI agent Kasam. Governor Watkins is the overall operations leader. During previous engagements, he earned the reputation of being the most feared U.S. commander in all of Iraq.
I really enjoyed this thriller. The characters were so realistic, and they stayed very true to their character. I especially liked President Carson, who was obviously based on President Trump. This story was extremely easy to follow. The ending was surprising.
I gladly give this book five stars. I cannot think of anything that the author should have done differently.
