Review of The Ghost Detectives
Are you a fan of playing detective and solving mysteries? Perhaps you are a Nancy Drew fan ready to take on another puzzle-solving adventure. If this is you, then you are certainly going to love reading The Ghost Detectives by Charles Townsend. Now, what is the story about, or what happens in the book?
Well, the book begins with a crime scene of the main character, Charles Benson, who one morning is dead, and instantly becomes a ghost. Charlie, as his friends call him, can see his body on the bed where he is lying down, and wonders what happened to him because he doesn’t recall being sick. In the process, he meets Lizzie, a female ghost who appears out of nowhere and takes an instant liking to Charlie. Lizzie helps Charlie to get used to being a ghost as they work together to solve the mystery of Charlie’s death. As the book continues, we learn that there are more forces involved in the death, and secrets begin to unravel as Charlie, with the help of Lizzie and other ghosts, work together to solve his own death and provide clues to the detectives handling the case. Will the ghosts playing detectives succeed in helping the real detectives solve the mystery? Well, there is only one way to find out!
I really loved reading this book, as I enjoyed Lizzie’s humor, and I loved how she was able to get Charlie to smile a few times, even in their current situation. I also enjoyed trying to guess what could have happened to Charlie and if his mysterious death was suicide or if there was more to it. There is nothing I disliked about the book, and even though I found some errors, they didn’t detract from the overall enjoyment of the book. For the reasons I mentioned above, I rate the book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars.
