Demons don’t exist, or do they? When Haatim Arison first started following Abigail Dressler, it was suppose to be quick and easy money. He was hired to take pictures of her stalking his employer. What Haatim didn’t expect was to be pulled into a war between the Churches of the world and the demons that cause all the chaos.

Abigail was suppose to take out this small time demon and maybe get back in the good graces with the demon hunting organization known as The Counsel. Instead, Abigail runs into Haatim. After finding out who he truly is, she is forced to watch over him. When a powerful demon takes control of a small town, Abigail has to take Haatim with her to stop the demon from spreading his evil throughout the rest of the world. Together, Abigail and Haatim fight this powerful evil force, and figure out where they belong in this world.

Wow! This story was incredible. Lincoln Cole has out done himself with the first novel in his new World On Fire series. From the very first page until the very last, the story captures the reader’s attention. Cole does a fantastic job at making the story flow smoothly. The characters are very well thought out and very well structured. The story is suspenseful and keeps you on your toes. Between the mystery behind Abigail’s stepfather’s disappearance, to Haatim’s relationship with his father, to the powerful demon that takes control of a small town in a matter of hours, Raven’s Peak is a page turner that keeps you guessing until the end.

As I stated, this story is the first in a new series. Readers need to be aware that it does end on a cliff hanger with a lot of unanswered questions. Questions that I am sure Cole will answer in the following books. Another thing readers need to keep in mind, this novel does dive into religion and different religious views. Abigail’s character has grown up fighting demons since she was a child, whereas Haatim is at a dark point in his life where he questions his faith. Their inner conflicts and how they are facing them help drive this story as the characters each make decisions that eventually lead up to the intense ending.

I give Raven’s Peak 4 out of 4 stars. Lincoln Cole does a fantastic job at creating a captivating story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. One minute you are reading the first page and the next you are done. Yes, Cole ends the story on a cliff hanger. However, with two more novels left to go in the series, I doubt Cole will disappoint. I highly recommend this novel to readers interested in suspenseful thrillers that dive into the world of religion and demons.
