The scene you describe in the catacombs reminds me of the Cask of Amontillado immediately, particularly because Fortunado pleads with Montressor to leave the catacombs much like the characters in your book. I wonder if the author took inspiration from Poe when he wrote this scene?

That really comes through in your review.
I think you probably have done it justice - it sounds like a great read.Despite finishing it so quickly, I held off writing my review because I wasn't quite sure how to put into words how much I enjoyed the way Rubin tugged and tied the storyline together to make such a cohesive and enjoyable novel. I'm still not sure if my review will do it justice.
