A captivating murder mystery back in the 1950s sounds like a great fortune for me. The plot in the book is also great and it's a must read for me.

All the main characters have extensive backstories, and that's something I always enjoy in a book. A truly interesting crime novel.

Nice summary, and thanks for the note of suspense. I haven't finished reading yet, but now know I have allot to look forward to. Can't put down a good mystery.

I didn't know mental health issues were already a thing. This is just the type point of book.

I wonder how, in the end, Jason proved his father innocent. Since I'm a crime lover, I will read the book to find out. Nice review.

This sounds like a very interesting and gripping novel! I’m not sure if it is something I would normally want to read but I am intrigued. I enjoy murder mysteries so maybe we will give this a try.

I am a big fan of murder mystery fiction so there's no way I'll miss this novel. I can't wait to see who really killed Boy Scout Roy Pettit and how Detective Joe Stroud and Jason Korsen will prove Peder's innocence in spite of all the political pressure behind the case. Thanks for a great review!

The plot itself sounds gripping, but I'm more intrigued by how all of this affects the characters as well as how their backstories contribute to the story. I'm especially interested to see how the mental institution is depicted; I know that the whole system was horrible, but I would still like to see it from the perspective of someone who has known someone who went through it. I'm a little put-off by the killer being obvious by the end of the book, but since you said the book still maintains the suspense, I'll give it a try. Thank you for the helpful review.

Sounds like a good mystery crime thriller. A son trying to prove his father's innocence while dealing with the loss of his friend. Not for me though.

This book appears to be a murder mystery that takes place in a small community and the victim is a young boy scout Roy Pettit, and which makes the story quite intriguing to know about the murderer when the suspect is Roy's friend Jason's father .The book also sheds more light on the various treatment methods used to treat mental patients in the mental institutions of the 1950's and some of the treatment look quite shocking.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I'm glad to hear there are back stories, especially if they are written well. I also like that the suspense is maintained, even after the killer is figured out. This really sounds like an excellent thriller. Looking forward to reading it. Thanks for your insightful review!

Murder mysteries aren’t usually my thing, but this one intrigues me. I believe there are still a lot of misconceptions about mental illness, and I’m curious about what was considered treatment in the 50s. With suspense all the way to the end, this sounds like a great book to get lost in.

Absolutely true! Books that showcase issues like mental illness, abuse, sexual assault shake me the most. They connect the most no matter whether it's relative or not. Can't wait to read it. Keep up with the intriguing reviews!
