"Sweet Adeline" by S.A. Zimmerman tells the story of Marty, who is skeptical about spirituality, but his perspective is challenged after encountering Adeline, a captivating woman whose life is entwined in mysticism. As their relationship deepens, Marty becomes increasingly aware of disturbing events involving crows, ravens, and symbols that seem to intertwine with his life. Marty learns to embrace his new reality, but as he unravels the dark legacy that threatens his loved ones, he finds himself in a desperate battle against supernatural forces to protect his loved ones.

I enjoyed the introduction of the main character, Marty. His sassy attitude and relatable vibe instantly drew me in, making me feel connected to him from the start. Throughout the book, Marty’s voice remained constant and engaging, as if he were speaking to me directly. Then, the balance between spirituality, romance, and other elements was just perfect, such that none of the elements overshadowed the other. I appreciated how each event was described in details and the author skillfully avoided oversharing; with this method, I never felt bored and was deeply immersed in the story. I found myself getting genuinely scared during the creepy moments, especially involving Freddy and Andrew, laughing at the funny parts, and fully invested in the suspense and twists. The way the emotions and events were told made the entire experience incredibly enjoyable and thrilling. I discovered strong morals that resonated within me. Marty’s journey from skepticism to acceptance of shamanism taught me to be open-minded to unknown things and also confront the unknown with courage. This book also highlighted how rationality and spirituality can coexist harmoniously and enrich each other rather than clashing. Moreover, I saw how love can drive personal transformation and help one overcome one's limitations, as demonstrated by Marty and Adeline’s relationship.

The compelling storytelling left no room for disappointment. Therefore, I rate "Sweet Adeline" 5 out of 5 stars because it captivated me from the start to the end with its engaging and relatable characters, perfect balance of romance, spirituality, and other interesting themes. It left a lasting impression on me and taught me valuable life lessons.

I highly recommend this book to those who have interest in spirituality, especially shamanism, Christianity, and voodooism, as it offers enlightening insights and may affirm, expand, or question what they already know. It is also a great read for open-minded people who are intrigued by spiritual concepts because it provides engaging information and fun but creepy events. Additionally, lovers of romance, particularly office romance, will thoroughly enjoy the heartfelt love shared by Marty and Adeline.
