Review of Crimeline Hollywood
“Crimeline Hollywood” by Thomas Collins is a thrilling tale set against the backdrop of Hollywood's glittering yet dangerous world. The novel delves deep into the glitz and grit of Hollywood, exposing the lengths to which people will go for power, money, and revenge. Through Dash’s eyes, readers experience the highs and lows of a world where success can quickly turn into a deadly game of survival.
The story follows Dash, an astrologer who has made a name for himself by accurately predicting the futures of some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including the famous actress and singer Sparklynn James. However, his life takes a sharp turn when he mistakenly predicts the future of Milo Karp, a casino mogul with dirty money and dangerous connections. Fearing for his life after a failed assassination attempt, Dash flees Hollywood and assumes a new identity as Morty Buntz in the quiet town of Upper Coolidge.
Despite his efforts to live anonymously, Dash is drawn back into Hollywood’s underworld when Sparklynn James is kidnapped. Reluctantly, he returns to Los Angeles and is thrust into a high-stakes rescue mission, teaming up with Rebecca Fairway, a celebrity detective. As they navigate the dangerous labyrinth of Hollywood’s elite, they uncover a web of corporate fraud and betrayal that leads them back to Dash’s old nemesis, Milo Karp.
From infiltrating a shady rehabilitation facility to facing off against hired killers, Dash's journey is one of survival, redemption, and uncovering the truth behind Sparklynn's abduction. Along the way, he reconnects with old allies and confronts the dark side of fame and fortune in a city where nothing is as it seems. As the tension mounts, Dash must use all his wits and resources to outmaneuver powerful enemies and save Sparklynn, all while trying to protect his own life.
What I particularly like about *Crimeline Hollywood* is its vivid portrayal of Hollywood's underbelly, combined with an intriguing narrative that merges suspense and humor. Thomas Collins does an exceptional job of immersing readers in a world where glamour and danger intersect. For example, the moment when Dash, the protagonist, has to reinvent himself as Morty Buntz in a small town after a botched horoscope prediction for a dangerous casino magnate is a perfect blend of absurdity and tension. This moment showcases the protagonist's sharp instincts for survival while highlighting the precariousness of life among Hollywood's elite.
The book truly shines when Dash teams up with Rebecca Fairway, the celebrity detective, to unravel the mystery of Sparklynn James’s kidnapping. Collins’ ability to weave humor into the suspense—like Dash pretending to be a troubled patient at Glory View to gather clues—keeps the story lively while maintaining a gripping sense of danger. Dash’s improvisation and resilience, especially when dealing with the enforcers Rocco and Delroy, add layers of complexity to his character and provide a sense of unpredictability that keeps readers on edge.
This book has been professionally edited, and I found nothing to dislike in it. I would therefore like to give it a rating of 5 out of 5 stars. I like the writing style of the novel because it makes reading fun, fast, intriguing, and captivating, providing readers with an extremely interesting plot.
I believe this book is most suitable for readers who enjoy thrillers with a touch of wit and a glimpse into the glitz and grit of Hollywood life. It's perfect for those who love stories filled with eccentric characters, sharp dialogue, and a plot that continuously twists and turns, leaving them guessing until the very end. Fans of crime novels, celebrity gossip, or anyone fascinated by the hidden machinations of fame and fortune will find “Crimeline Hollywood” to be a thrilling and engaging read.
