Review of Justice
The narrative opens with the murder of a Hollywood star, Alyce Justice, leading Detective Lucas and Norelli on an arduous investigation. Set in the glittering world of fame and the media circus, the case soon gets convoluted as they learn secrets, covert alliances, and surprising turns of events. As they dig deeper, more questions surface, and the truth of how it happened becomes increasingly difficult to discover. Despite their suspicions, the detectives are in a race to figure out what really happened quickly. The investigation reveals more than just a murder, with every clue leading to hidden secrets. As the truth slowly comes to light, the suspense increases.
Justice by J. Grant Boyd is a captivating read that pulls you into a tangled story of mystery and betrayal. The story opens with Alyce Justice, a well-known actress who has just won an Oscar, being discovered dead in her house. Though Lucas was about to retire, as a top detective, he was sent to crack the mystery. As Lucas probes the crime, the story gets more convoluted. Many people were questioned, including prominent Hollywood actor Brandon, Alyce’s husband. Boyd does an excellent job of keeping the narrative interesting and bursting with surprises. The narrative has surprising turns with a cast of fascinating people, including powerful attorneys and reporters. It is easy to lose oneself in the narrative since the investigation is comprehensive and feels authentic.
My favorite character in the book is BJ. BJ was one character I fell in love with as soon as she came into the picture. BJ never referred to herself as a reporter; she always referred to herself as a journalist because she felt she had stronger principles. Additionally, she was very helpful to Lucas, and I love that a genuine connection was formed between the two.
The book covers the themes of betrayal and justice. While reading, I didn’t like an aspect of the book. I felt that some characters and their reasons for acting the way they do, like the affairs and personal conflicts, might seem a bit predictable. However, the author’s writing style is unique, and the conversations between characters feel real and true to their personalities and relationships.
I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. There were two major twists in the story that really impressed me and caught me by surprise. I also liked how the detectives worked together and cooperated to ensure justice was served. I recommend the book to fans of mystery and suspense books.
