I agree with your review, and I would also have given it a 3/4. The book is very well edited with few if any grammatical errors or typos. It was a pleasure to read in that respect, however the backstory in some places seemed incomplete and lagged in other places. I didn't like how it ended as it seemed too abrupt. Max was nice, but naive and Godfredo just seemed to fight with his father all the time. The book was a nice afternoon read.

Very interesting review. I'll have to read this book to see if I feel the same way. I sometimes find that the "flaws" can enhance the experience.

Thanks for the honest review. It sounds like it's built on a good, intriguing backstory, but I'm curious to experience the execution for myself. I'll keep your review in mind as I read.

Usually I think if you have to read a book twice to get the big picture, it's probably not worth my time. But since reading Cloud Atlas, I have changed my mind to a certain extent. Not sure if it's enough for me to read this book though.

When one reads a book twice or more times, two things come in; either he or she did concentrate during the first reading or the book is a thriller.Your review has aroused my appetite to read it.Kudos for that deep review

I received a copy of this book from my mother for a book to add to my collection. I was immediately drawn intoThis story that covers the many facets in life such as financial greed, political mistakes, and the accounts of the Panama Canal.
The story starts with the unexpected and awful planned murder and suicide by the main character's mother and father.
This is a turn page thriller with a few other things thrown in. It is not a thriller, murder mystery, or a political thriller it is all of them combined and more.
I gave it 4 stars :D

Well the story is a good one, but how the character of Max parents were dropped along the line is still what am yet to uncover. So also, the fact that max in his artistic character remain so gullible through out the journey is a big suprise and a huge shock to me. How can he get tricked by virtually. Everybody, the parents, the friend Godfredo, Paco and Karis. But i rate it 3 of 4. Just as the review has done.
