Nice review on a book Involving treachery, deceit and revenge spanning the lifetime of one gullible character. This proves that life is what we make it not what it makes us, looks like a good thriller for the holidays. Thanks botd.

I'd like a thriller. Congrats on the review! Sounds very intriguing.

Great review. You did an excellent job at summarizing the novel. I enjoyed reading this book myself but agree with you that it didn't have a huge impact on me.

I started this book expecting it to drag on way more than it did after this review. It does indeed get a little slow in the middle, but I never found myself to the point of abandoning the read. Thank You!

After reading the book sample, I just wasn't sure if this was a book I could get into. After reading the review, I think I'm going to pass on this one. I like a good thriller, this one just isn't for me.

Political and corporate espionage are not my cup of tea... and I hate it when I get to the end of a story and ask myself, "Now what was that about?" LOL So this book my be on my second tier TBR stack... LOL

A carefully drafted book is a well crafted book. Too bad the official review is ambivalent towards the book, but there are others who found it such a good read! Maybe I will find time to read it this Christmas vacation. :tiphat: :techie-studyingbrown:

Based on the review I am uninterested in reading this book. It sounds hard to follow and slightly boring.

Great review! It's interesting to know that you chose to reread The Expansion. I don't think this book is something I'm interested in, but I'm willing to learn more about it.

I've read a bunch of reviews for this book, and while all being quite different, they are equally very interesting! Your review, however, is one that I did not have to read twice to figure out what exactly goes on in this book. I've had the book in my Kindle library for some time now, but have not read it yet because of so many mixed reviews. I appreciate hearing your views on it, and I'm looking forward to reading more of them in the future! Yoir review was well-written and helpful to potential readers...thank you so much and keep up the great work. :-)

I thought this was going to be about the "expansion" of the Panama Canal. But, it seems more like a study in relationships among characters, betrayals, feuds, & corruption. Might be interesting to explore...so, thanks for the review!

I love the concept, especially the Panama Canal element. It's a shame about the pacing, though. It sucks when a potentially exciting book is ruined by poor pacing. Thank you for the thorough and honest review.
