Pearl River Mansion by Richard Schwartz

Tyler Chandler, his wife Sarah, and their twins, Rachael and Cody, live in a cramped trailer, and life is anything but pleasant. Tyler does whatever he wants, while his wife Sarah stays home to care for their children and prefers being with Tyler, while Cody is the favored child. Rachael, because of her gender, gets all the blame for anything that happens and is a mere afterthought to everyone else.

Tyler comes from a wealthy background. Joan Chandler, the mother of the protagonist, is accustomed to getting her way and isn't hesitant to express her disappointment in her son for marrying Sarah against the family's wishes. Joan finds fault with Sarah's impoverished background and the fact that she became pregnant before marriage.

The family's dynamics shift when Joan convinces Tyler to come for a visit. Joan has always preferred girls over boys, which is why she was not initially thrilled about Tyler. Similarly, Tyler is not keen on Rachael because she is a girl. However, Joan is now determined to have Rachael and will go to great lengths to separate her from Tyler and Sarah.

The story has a large number of characters, and the author has provided a "cast of characters" at the beginning of the book. However, you will not need to refer back to it because you will become so familiar with all the characters as you read through the story.

This book is filled with family drama, murder, and mystery. The family's nonstop drama takes the reader on a thrilling ride, with something new and different happening in nearly every chapter.
The author was flawless in creating characters that I loved and hated. Because the characters were so well-written, I felt like I was part of their story. While reading, I could easily visualize each scene due to the detailed explanations.

This book is a 5 out of 5 stars. I rated this book 5 stars because the book was professionally edited. It was professionally written. And, I have never read a book so well put together that had so many characters, twists, and turns yet I knew where I was at all times. I didn't find anything that I disliked about this book. There were no negative aspects of the book that I could find.
