"Not only is it (life) a curse, he points out, it's a curse that is forced upon us, one we aren't free to accept or decline."

I respectfully disagree that life is a curse. I believe that what we see as "fate" is actually the karmic path we ourselves have picked in between lives and that we use our "free will" to make choices that fulfill that karma (or not).

Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review. I think this is a very interesting idea for a book. It is good that you found it so enjoyable and was able to rate it 4 out of 4 even though it is definitely unique.

Thank you for an informative review. I downloaded the book, since it's free. I'm not sure it's for me, but I'm sure I will get around to reading it at some point. Thanks!

I like how you first say that the main character is simply speaking to the reader. But later go further to say that the reader is a participant in the character's musings. I think that it's an important distinction. That, yes, characters can "speak" to the reader. But to be a participant means the character really draws you in (good job author!).

Sounds intriguing. A philosophical discourse which tells a story. I especially liked the fact that even though the main character seemed to have contradicted himself, he was always able to explain. Hypocritical or Brilliant? Black & White or Shades of Gray? Definitely something I will consider reading

Thank you very much for your review.
I also noticed the honesty and simplicity of the main character to tell his stories. I found the text well written and engaging. However, these days I am not in the mood to read something like this, as I find ccertain topics cruel.
