Well.. what can I really say about this book without being too harsh? The premise was an okay plot line, I guess but it very much reads like it was written by A.I. like Chat GPT. The repeating of words, lack of descriptive language, uncreative dialogue, it all just reads like a robot wrote it. Also aside from the opening scene, the plot dragged on very slowly. Usually I can read a good length novel in a few days but this took me over a week to get through. Honestly I had much higher hopes for this book seeing as it's part of a series but it disappointed me and fell flat in my opinion. The characters had very little development, especially the main characters. They didn't behave as a happily married couple would. The descriptions of the other characters seem like they were also created by AI. Perhaps it's just not the writing style I enjoy or it's really computer generated. The "action" scenes fell horribly flat, the only part of the book that truly pulled me in completely was the opening scene in the prologue. Also the racial undertones of the book made me extremely uncomfortable. I get it's a part of the entire book's premise but it was not done tastefully at all. It played heavily into racial and religious stereotypes and just seemed to be lazy writing in my opinion.
