It seems we are classmates in the thriller department. I also follow Jack and Laurie. I like them better than Patricia Cornwell's Scarpetta.

Tami Hoag is another thriller writer whose books I enjoy. Her books are really bloody, though.

I know...I wanted to finish Lucas Davenport first but I have read one with Virgil Flowers. A good read as well.

I personally really love any crime/mystery/thriller by Tami Hoag. She almost always has detailed environments, realistic character interactions and are often witty and have various personal problems/demons/depth, and the plots aren't too predictable. My favorite would be Cry Wolf. Also, almost every book is a self contained story even if it's technically part of a series.

Did you know Tami started as a romance novelist?

The last Hoag book I read was Cold, Cold Heart. I think she has released a couple books after. Cry Wolf is a memorable one.

I did actually! I've never read her romance novels though. Have you? I think the last one I read by her was Deeper Than Dead. There's a couple newer ones I have on my shelf that I haven't gotten to yet lol. I agree Cry Wolf is very memorable!

Yes, I read a couple of her old romances that I found in second-hand bookstores. Stay with the thrillers, though, unless you enjoy M&B-type love stories. :techie-studyingbrown:

If you are looking for a dark and tragic story, Mrs. Poe by Lynn Cullen is absolutely marvelous. It is as anxious and guilt-ridden as a Poe protagonist, and it provides a view of Virginia Poe that I have never before been privy to. I highly recommend it to readers who love rich language and Victorian nuance.

For crime drama I enjoy Jonathan Kellerman’s books. His Alex Delaware novels are very well done, especially if you like to try to solve before the detectives.

Behind Her Eyes, by Sarah Pinborough is one of my favorite psychological thrillers. The author shifts perspectives between the two main characters. The twist at the end is simply brilliant. I have read this book over a year ago and still think about it’s fascinating story line.

The Secrets She Keeps by Michael Robotham is a good book for Gillian Flynn fans. It's definitely set up that way, with the narrator switching from one woman to another. It's a fun book something you can breeze through in a day or two.

I read a lot of books in this genre. Best Day Ever by Kaira Rouda will knock you off your feet. I read this book in one day, could NOT put it down. I read this book about a year ago, have read many more books since, but I am still drawn back to this novel. Total suspense, twists and turns- I’m getting chills just thinking about it!

I recommend John Saul's Black Creek Crossing. A sure page-turner even if it gets creepy as the story goes.
