Khanjar, penned by Bob O'Brien, is a gripping action-packed drama centring on Paul Shehadeh, a Palestinian driven by a profound love for his people and their desperate need for clean water. Despite his grandfather's violent approach, Paul embraces his father's teachings of seeking peaceful solutions.

He becomes a devoted patriot, dedicating himself to providing clean water to his community. Paul's journey leads him to study desalination in China and later to Columbia in America, where he meets Lucy, a fellow student. Together, they face a perilous chain of events while striving to fulfil Paul's mission for clean water, putting their lives in jeopardy. Khanjar is an enthralling tale of passion, sacrifice, and survival.

I was captivated by the intricate descriptions of the action scenes and the writer's skill in portraying peaceful problem-solving, exemplified by Paul's father in the story. Additionally, the political dynamics between the countries involved in the desalination process added an engaging element to the plot. A character I particularly enjoyed was Musa, affectionately nicknamed Moose. Although initially challenging to work with, he and Bec eventually developed a strong rapport. Musa's ultimate sacrifice, shielding Bec from a life-threatening explosion at the cost of his own life, left a lasting impact.

The reason I do not dislike anything in this book is that it offers a truly enjoyable reading experience. The intriguing and suspenseful elements kept me engaged from start to finish, while the clever connection of events to the pair of khanjars added depth and intrigue to the plot. Moreover, as someone who appreciates happy endings, the satisfying resolution of JJ Tomlin's fate and the prevention of the second bombing left me content despite the tension. Lucy's character development and her brave actions further enriched the story, making it a compelling and memorable read. I highly recommend this book to those interested in politics and fans of action-packed stories.

I gave this book a rating of 5 out of 5 stars because it truly deserves it. The writer's masterful storytelling and captivating writing skills kept me hooked from the beginning until the very end. I was impressed by the seamless flow of the narrative and the way every aspect of the story was skillfully crafted. Moreover, the book's exceptional editing, free from errors, enhanced my reading experience and showcased the author's commitment to delivering a polished work. The combination of compelling storytelling, impressive writing, and flawless presentation left a lasting impact on me, making it an easy decision to award this book a top rating.
