One of the mistakes Doyle Hamilton made was handing his division to someone with a marred past. Kevin Burr didn't have a clean record, and that's what Clifford and his team of PIs were almost uncovering.

Earlier, a senator was assassinated, so Doyle was chosen to fill his position (and left his position to Kevin in the process). Not long after, three lobbyists were killed in a road accident that looked staged to Clifford. Then, just recently, they uncovered an organized crime operation of illegally selling rifles to warlords in Africa that was being conducted behind the scenes by a music company called Dark Fenix. Bailey, Clifford's associate, found files with gun names while investigating a copyright violation case involving the music production company. After that, new leads suggested that Burr was not only involved in the gun smuggling deal but was also the mastermind behind several high-profile assassinations. But they couldn't take him down yet because they could find no direct link to him. Time was running out, and as a result, Clifford and his team now became the new targets because of the investigations they were conducting. What will become of them? Will they succeed in bringing Burr down and stopping his crimes? Find out in Clifford's War by J. Denison Reed.

What I liked the most about this book was how Clifford's team worked together on cases. They were funny, friendly, and caring towards each other during their investigations. It was also nice that the author took the time to show us glimpses into some of the characters' personal lives. Sara was a likable girl who seemed to have a crush on Clifford. Daniel was recovering from a heartbreak in a previous relationship, and we see him becoming more open to new relationships. He models for Sara's art class in the hope of meeting someone. Bailey, though physically challenged, is a strong-willed man, and his computer skills shine throughout. I wish I had more space to discuss the rest of the characters.

I don't see any negative aspects to mention. I also don't see any reason to give this book anything less than 5 out of 5 stars. This is just the perfect book for those who love fiction novels about solving crimes. This book seems exceptionally well edited to me.
