It seemed that PI Clifford Dee and Special Agent Sims were on the same case. A senator, Senator Jason Reeves, was killed while Clifford's team was on a private contract from the senator's wife to see if Reeves was having an affair. Not long after, three lobbyists were killed in a road accident that, to Clifford, looked more like an assassination. As they dug in further, they realized that the two incidents were actually connected! What was going on was just a smokescreen for an even bigger crime of arms smuggling. Surprisingly, someone from Clifford's past, Kevin Burr, seemed to be implicated as the mastermind. It was now personal to Clifford, but they had no evidence yet to pin him down. Meanwhile, assassins were being sent to take Clifford out as his investigations seemed to be a threat to some people. Will he pull this off? Find out in Clifford's War by J Denison Reed.

This book is somewhat similar to a detective TV show called "CIA." My opinion about this book is mostly positive because it was an epic read for me. The plot is unique and well-written. That's not to say it has escaped the common tropes of the genre. It does have similarities to other books I've read about crime, detectives, and such stuff, but this was somewhat unique. The scenes moved quickly, with one action quickly following another, something that made sure the story wasn't stuck at any point. The character development, to me, is admirable, but I wish I knew more about some minor characters. For example, I wished I knew more about Sara's art teacher, Michael, and so many others.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I don't see any serious negative aspects to make me rate it lower, but there are some points I've mentioned above that can be improved on. This is the perfect read for lovers of detective and crime thrillers. This book has been perfectly edited.
