Review of The Champagne Tales
Just to make it a bit more interesting, I will explain the summary of each story in The Champagne Tales, by Michael Amon, in terms of different types of champagne.
Welcome! my most honored guest to my wine cellar, where you will find all kinds of interesting tasting champagne. Such as, champagne that is generational and helps one find the greatest treasure; high-end and classy champagne that draws one in with its sarcasm; champagne that destroys a life; champagne that becomes a man’s only companion in life; great champagne that is not valued as much as it should be; champagne that "cures one’s sickness"; champagne that holds painful memories; champagne that crushes dreams for one but brings joy to another; champagne that can find "true love"; and champagne that contains love which is unbreakable and never changes.
It is a book that seems to exude charm and charisma, which, from what I’ve gathered, is not much different from the author himself. My favorite story was "The Review" chapter, which had me chuckling more than a few times at the wittiness and sarcasm of the narrator.
The characters were enjoyable and relatable in the sense that they felt humane and you could put yourself in their shoes, even if what you’re relating to does not necessarily have anything to do with champagne. I was oftentimes reminded of the shortness of life and how we, as humans, do not take full advantage of or are as appreciative of the things we currently have until they slip away. Furthermore, I was also able to learn a bit more about champagne, which is a bonus as someone that merely dabbles with it once in a while.
Apart from some grammatical and typing errors that do not prevent one from enjoying the book, I found no other faults with the book and think that it was well edited.
I thoroughly enjoyed The Champagne Tales; hence I rate it 4 out of 4 stars. It was understandable even for a person like me with below-average knowledge of wine. I recommend the book to a mature audience because of some of the book’s sexual content and profanity. You will love this book if you are a wine (especially champagne) lover and a fan of fictional stories that depict real-world people.
Well, my most honored guest I hope you enjoyed the little taste you got of my best champagne, and I hope you will soon get the full bottle for yourself, and so for now, I bid you farewell.
