I just finished reading "The Obsession" by Nora Roberts. I've never read any of her books before because I generally don't enjoy romance novels and I thought that was all she wrote. This book did have romance but it was so much more--I couldn't put it down! It's so real that it's almost like a true crime novel, mixed with a coming of age story, a magnetic love story, and a page turning thriller. It has definitely made me consider checking out some of Nora Roberts's other books!

I just finished reading Truth Stained Lies and Distortion by Terri Blackstock and they were outstanding. There is one more book in the Moonlighters series, Twisted Innonence that I'm looking forward to reading.

The Sano Ichiro series by Laura Joh Rowland is great because along with the mystery is a very well described look into life in Feudal Japan.

I'm not a huge mystery fan; I do like quite a few mystery books but I don't seek them out just for the genre. But two years ago I read Luckiest Gil Alive by Jessica Knoll, and I loved it so much. It caught my attention during the aftermath of Gone Girl, when those types of mysteries became really trendy. It was really excellent, I couldn't put it down. I heard it was going to be a movie too.

I love the Pendergast series by Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston. However, if you don't like paranormal, these will probably not be your kind of preferred mystery.

I agree on The Beekeeper's Apprentice along with the rewrite from the perspective of Holmes :tiphat: in Beekeeping for Beginners. Though, that is a short story.

Outside of Holmes, I like The Laughing Corpse and The Harliquin of the Anita Blake series by Laurel l K. Hamilton. :techie-studyingbrown:

I second that vote that The Da Vinci Code is one of the best of the more recent suspense mysteries. Also, any books written by Agatha Christie, Mary Higgins Clark, and Caroline Keene(the Nancy Drew series is more for younger readers, but I've enjoyed rereading a few as an adult) are mystery classics and well worth reading. Enjoy discovering this great genre!

Call me old fashioned, but I grew up on Agatha Christie's mysteries. I can never get enough of her books, but my absolute favorite has to be The Man in the Brown Suit.
