Official Review: Sing the Rage by Peter Palmieri
A series of murders in Texas is being investigated; The victims are all male teens who are seemingly unrelated to one another. Upon further investigation, a connection is found: the boys were all adopted from the same orphanage in Odessa, Ukraine. But who is this cold-blooded assailant, why does he have a penchant for killing these innocent teens?
Dr. Patricia West is reeled into a police investigation when a patient of hers opens fire on his classmates at a local high school. Beyond being the shooter’s doctor, there is another connection: Her son, Alex, and the shooter were both adopted years ago from the same orphanage. The seven adopted teens are winding up dead or missing, and Patricia is terrified that Alex may be next. Together, with Detective Jamie Lee and Officer Kyle Wagner, they must put a stop to the bloodshed before Alex is next!
Sing The Rage by Peter Palmieri is a marvelously immersive read; it has been some time since I have been quite as invested in a book and its outcome. The author wastes no time by swiftly introducing main characters, as well as supporting characters, and delving into action. While the book is told in the third-person perspective and flip-flops between characters, it is apparent that Dr. Patricia West, Alex West, and supervillain Borya Balakin, are the leading players.
My favorite aspect of the book was the fast pace and thrilling revelations. The connections came together organically with the author showing rather than telling. I was particularly intrigued by the connection between Alex and the rest of the boys from the orphanage. Throughout the book, Alex was described as “not like the others,” which furthered my curiosity. If he was not like the others, then why was he being sought out by Balakin?
While the book boasted a cleverly designed storyline, its downfall was the surplus of characters. I found myself continually having to reread chapters to remind myself which character was being depicted; this became rather time-consuming. The beginning of the story introduced two characters that I surmised to be the main characters. Still, after the initial introduction, there was no further mention of them. I am not sure how this could have been remedied, but it was a cause of confusion for me.
As I previously stated, the influx of characters was the only weak spot in an otherwise flawless book. For that shortcoming, I contemplated deducting a star, but the book’s absence of errors impressed me beyond measure. For that reason, I chose to give it a rating of four out of four stars.
Sing The Rage is infused with disturbing scenes and graphic violence; it also contains profanity, which would not be suitable for younger readers. I would recommend the book to adults who appreciate an action-packed mystery sprinkled with science-fiction elements. Readers with a particular interest in genetics will love this book! Make sure you have a comfortable spot to read as you won’t be able to pull yourself away from the book until the very end!

All of your questions will be answered. Thanks for your comment!Faithmwangi wrote: ↑02 Mar 2020, 13:57 This is quite the plot. It has me asking questions like what happened to these boys while they were at the orphanage? Why and how is Alex different? Will his life be spared? I hope to find out when I read this book. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for your comment--much appreciated!NetMassimo wrote: ↑03 Mar 2020, 09:07 This story seems really intriguing. I don't mind violent contents if they're justified by the plot. Thank you for your interesting review!
