[Following is an official OnlineBookClub.org review of "The Trust" by Scott M Colton.] [rbc=3]id400961-125[/rbc]The Trust, by Scott M Colton, is about an estate lawyer, Bo Martin, in Palm Beach, Florida. Bo’s life took a new turn when Bart Sinclair (a jeweler nicknamed Bart of Diamonds) and an elderly man approached him to create an irrevocable trust. The elderly man had acquired a large diamond collection and wanted Bo to be the sole trustee for his trust. Therefore, Bo would be entitled to a trustee’s fee for managing the trust’s assets.

Bo thought that the offer seemed too good to be true, but it was just too enticing for him to say no to it. He set up the trust, not knowing that he was getting involved in a vendetta. Eventually, he found himself in a quagmire. To top it all, his law career was put on the line, even his life. How would he survive?

This crime and mystery book is very enthralling. It really entertained me. Wow! Stating that I enjoyed reading it is an understatement. It was a rewarding feast for me. I commend Colton for his ability to create a unique storyline, comprising surprise and intriguing twists. He was very strong on narrative. The novel is full of suspense and intrigue, revealing fascinating action and investigation.

Exploring the themes of the consequences of greed, lies, double-crosses, and revenge, this fast-paced novel involves tax matters, legal issues, courtroom battles, the Mafia, drug dealers, the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), and the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency). If you don’t enjoy reading books including legal matters, you may want to skip this one, but I advise you to give it a try. I bet you won’t regret it.

Regarding the characters, the author described them very well; it was as if I was seeing them on the screen. They are intriguing and memorable, both the good and bad guys. I don’t have any dislikes about the book, except that there are a few grammar errors and several typographical errors. I suggest it should be sent for another round of editing, though the errors did not stop me from enjoying it. In addition, some of the conversations have profane words. Moreover, there are no graphic sex scenes.

In conclusion, I rate The Trust3 out of 4 stars. I wish that I could give it 4 stars because it’s very gripping and entertaining. The author held the suspense throughout his story. However, I can’t ignore the aforementioned errors. Hence, I deduct 1 star for them. I recommend it to readers of crime and mystery novels. Since it consists of 447 pages that are worthwhile, it’ll make a great vacation read. ****** The Trust View: on Bookshelves
