Twisted but True is a never ending thrill of exciting incidents occurring one after the other that you go through the whole book with enhanced enthusiasm and suspense. Darren Burch not only proved himself a committed and responsible officer but also a wonderful author. He takes on his exciting thirty year journey as a patrol officer, sex crime detective and night detective in homicide in his beautifully written book.

His obsession of saving lives started well before his career as a police officer, when he encountered a car crash in his teenage life. He, hurriedly threatening his life ran to take out everyone from fatal car fire but before the fire would have engulfed him, his friends pulled him out of the car leaving a female surrounded by flames of fire. This is the start of his twisted but true collection of short stories that make reader to image every scene and live it.

Twisted but True contains thirty five chapters. The author is very consistent and balanced with his writing skills. Mentioning daring adventures in a humorous yet serious way and giving hilarious names to the people according to their appearance or actions is quite appreciating. The twist section at the end of each chapter is the cherry on the top. He has shown the types of criminals and how he dealt with them. This book is perfect for those who have interest in criminal investigations as true crimes are being mentioned in such a way that you will enjoy them.

Veteran homicide sergeant, Darren Burch has written this in its true essence and gives readers a chance to peek in his life whether its professional, personal or its his family. His bond with his family is indescribable. Raising his son as a single father until he marries for the second time and balancing his work and family is really admiring. I loved reading every chapter, his concern to find a daycare as a single parent while being informed of his employment at CIA remains a suspense. His unknown Spanish creates dramatic effect. The Ride-Along from HELL is no doubt an exciting experience for the characters and the readers as well, but the last chapter is really heart melting.

This book truly deserves excellent rating so I rate it 4 out of 4 stars as it is well written, precisely thrilling, exceptionally amusing, and incredibly gaining readers attention by clearly providing details of every bit and incident. The suspense of every story is accurately kept in its title and is unfold as you go through.
