I liked Rowan's character. At first, the reader would get suspicious of his motives in sticking to Galen. But his helpfulness and loyalty is obvious. Without his help, I wonder how Galen would have fared after his arrival to Voulhire.

Galen's perspective was my favorite. I easily related to how naive he was and how happy he must have been for leaving the war-torn land of the princes and inheriting a fortune.

Alderman and Galen were my favourite. I feel like the most of the book is Galen's perspective, so I felt naturally connected with him. I also think that he is going through something similar as I am: exploring who you are and finding your place in the world.

I liked Eldus perspective a bit. Although he was not as competent and smart when ruling Hillport but he was determined to be. He lacked the traits of leadership and when to strike. It's only common sense that is supposed to tell him why a supposed powerful maid is held down in a castle. Even after reading Meldorath's journals, he should have been more wary.

Galen was my favourite character. I feel like he added a new perspective, as he is wide-eyed and clearly different from the people in Voulhire. He sounds kind, brave and romantic as well.

I connected more with Galen, his story of leaving home to look for greener pastures was relatable. I could picture his adventures and struggles as he was on a quest to belong.

I loved Galen from the first page. I think it is because of his innocence and his refreshing outlook on everything, the hope he feels is almost palpable. I was addicted 😋

Galen was my favorite character, I liked most of his parts, how he tickle challenges whenever he was in a problem, he also had some sense of humor.

I suspect that without Rowan, Galen would be staying home and forging lovely things out of steel, instead of running around all of Voulhire, buying rocks from Caromentis, and having another eight books written about him.

Lord Eldus scenes were nice and all, but what really got my blood pumping was Midius Maido's scenes. He seems like such an interesting character. We should have seen more of him.

I enjoyed reading Galen's perspective at the start, but midway I found Eldus' story more interesting. The scene at the dining table remains incredibly vivid in my mind.

I loved Demetrius' personality. He is reliable. He was on hand to receive Galen upon his arrival. His loyalty to helped Galen to adjust and blend to Voulhire within a short time.

I also like Rowan. I like how funny and laid-back he is, but I think there is still a lot more to his character than we know. For instance, why does he stick around with Galen after he finished his duties toward him.

Rowan was my stand out character for giving Galen that needed help in the acquisition of his uncle's wealth. But for him, Galen wouldn't have been the protagonist.

I think my favourite part was when Beth was being introduced. The book has built up a lot of tension about magic and about this otherness that exists within it. When Beth enters into this world, this world becomes the otherness, something new and to explore. I really liked that perspective.
