Nice review! A shame this book didn't focus more development on a few key characters, and leave out some of the saturating scientific detail. Sounds almost like a textbook trying to tell a story rather than a novel based on fact.

You're right; it was too textbook like. It's got potential, but it hasn't been fully realized. Thanks!

"...given a biology lesson on why exactly their body is shaped thus." -- I couldn't stop laughing at this. This would have strained my patience to the breaking point. Guess I'd have to keep looking for a new sci-fi book. Thanks for this review!

Well, it was definitely a bit much for me. I love learning and being entertained at the same time, but this one definitely crossed the line. :D At times, it was more of a textbook. Thanks!

A lot of sci-fi authors struggle to find a balance between imparting knowledge and building the story. Their enthusiasm is endearing but I think they need to have some coaching on how to write stories correctly, as they don't make good books

There is some truth in that, though I wouldn't say this was as much world building as straight scientific knowledge. Thanks for commenting.

Pity about the numerous grammatical errors. I did like your synopsis and analysis of the story. Alas, I've read recently so many badly edited books that I need to take a short break from them for a while.

I understand that. I think sometimes authors are in such a hurry to get their books out, that they just don't take the time to have it professionally edited. It's a pity.

Looks like the author was off to a good start writing a science fiction story and then decided to veer off into textbook style. You even got some German lessons! Das ist gut. Thanks for your excellent review.

True. There was quite a bit of German in there. :D I think they even did a bit of comparison on the German language verses English. :D Thanks for commenting.

I find it ironic that this book was overloaded with information. Many sci fi books I have read showed a disappointing lack of authentic scientific background. This book seems to have gone to the other extreme by ovardoing it. I surely would not like to read it. Thank you for your honest review!

It does seem to be difficult to find a happy medium as far as information goes. Thanks for your comment.

The plot seems really interesting. It's a shame it wasn't well executed.

Great review Kandscreeley. I am glad this is one book, I am sure not to read. The story seems like it has promise, but like you said, with such a huge cast of characters, it is a waste not to develop at least some of them.
