Shades of Magic Trilogy by V.E. Schwab

Post by Fu Zaila »

Have any of you read the books? How did you like it?
In case you haven't heard of the series, it constitutes three books-
A Darker Shade of Magic
A Gathering of Shadows
A Conjuring of Light

The basic plot : London is divided into 4 parts, in regards to the presence of Magic - Red London where Magic thrives in abundance, White London - where evil magic rules the people, Grey London - where magic is unheard of, and Black London - which was once the capital of all things magic but now empty and dead. Kell is an Antari - one of the only two magicians who can cross between the Londons. Delilah Bard is a thief in Grey London. The two cross paths in interesting ways and get themselves bounded in an impossible mission to restore peace between the four Londons and save the future of magic.

I love the world Schwab has created, and I especially love the characters. Delilah Bard is my all time favorite character! Schwab's writing is simply amazing. My favorite book was A Gathering of Shadows which mainly focuses on Lilah. But the third book was a bit disappointing in my opinion - so much build up which delivers nothing by the end!
