Review of StarBridge Ai
Starbridge AI by Lawrence Cross is a fascinating and interesting look at AI development. The book presents AI integration into our daily activities and the possibilities that it is capable of. The content follows Marcus Hoffman, CFO of Starbridge, and his family. Starbridge is an AI development company, and it has developed an intelligent AI system called TODD.
The book not only delves into the possibilities of AI but also builds in-depth characters into the storyline. Marcus’s wife, Sarah, was mayor of Danville and battling health problems; Marcus’s son, Ryan, a student at Berkeley, was struggling in a relationship; and Marcus’s daughter, Jessica, was in a relationship with an abusive boyfriend. The author did a good job of creating a real-world environment in which all characters were facing their own struggles, but they were present and supportive of each other as well. I found myself very engaged with each of the characters and their challenges. I enjoyed the depth and the detail the author used in creating each character.
The tension builds when the President of the United States contracts Starbridge for some government activities. The president is driven by the desire for power and control, which makes a system like TODD very dangerous in his hands. The book and situations are very insightful and interesting. There are many ethical decisions that each character must make, and this aspect captivates the reader even more.
I enjoyed the afterword that the author included, which consisted of a conversation between Marcus and TODD. The author alluded to a possible sequel, which I would most certainly read. The book had a number of grammatical errors. The content also included profanity. The book is well-suited for adult readers who enjoy intrigue, deep characters, and AI. There is nothing that I disliked about the book and I rate the book 4 out of 5 only because of the grammatical errors.
