A.I. Capone by Paul Ponce is a fast-paced read. It’s full speed ahead from the start and doesn’t stop. A.I. Capone is a dystopian thriller that incorporates elements of crime and technology. I enjoyed the way the author uses the dystopian aspect, but tailors it to current events with the rise of AI right now. It makes this quirky book seem a little more realistic than it might have been five or ten years ago.

Dr. Celeste Turing, one of the brightest minds of this current generation, built an advanced AI that was meant to protect humankind, no matter what. When said AI goes rogue, taking on the persona of a do-gooder gangster, it does exactly what it was programmed to do.

A.I. Capone exposes the leaders and corruption across the web, amassing a following. The ‘Skins,’ those who are actually pulling the strings on everything and anything, will do the unthinkable to make sure they don't lose the control that they have.

New alliances are made, and it's a race against the clock.

Can Dr. Celeste Turing, her godfather General Edmund Drake, and A.I. Capone stop the Skins from doing the unthinkable? You’ll have to read this book to find out.

I enjoyed this book a lot. It was easy to read, and due to great editing, I found no errors in my read-through. I thought that some ideas could’ve been expanded on. It was a short read for the concept that the author put together. Lack of content also meant it was harder to get a good understanding of the characters. I found this especially so for the ‘villains’ in the book. Most of the characters seemed like interesting people, whether they were good or bad, and I just wished there were more pages dedicated to getting to know them. For this reason, I had to deduct from my rating.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who likes their stories fast-paced and high-stakes. This was a really fun read, and I look forward to seeing what else the author has. For all the reasons I listed above, I give A.I. Caponefour out of five stars. You won't regret picking up this read.
