Proud PAda by S.G. Blaise is a science fiction/fantasy novel that transported me to a realm of imagination. I appreciate when an author doesn't just recycle the same tired, worn-out science fiction concepts. They invent entirely new worlds, complete with unique ways of life, hierarchies, magic, and engaging backstories that delight the mind. I want to be enchanted, and this author has certainly achieved that. There are six elements of magic, each with a light and a dark side. Guardian gods protect and guide the inhabitants of the seven galaxies. The Archgoddess of the Eternal Light and Order and the Archgod of Chaos and Destruction are the ruling gods. The spirits of the original race of the planet Teryn can meld with Teryn warriors, allowing the pair to transition to their battle form for extraordinary power and abilities. Moira, the queen of the original Teryns, has melded with Lilla, resulting in a truly unique battle form.

The story begins with Callum a’ruun of Teryn and Lilla of Uhna gazing lovingly into each other's eyes on what is meant to be their wedding day on the planet of Cathal. Callum's father, Caderyn a’ruun, ruler of the Teryns, is to officiate the ceremony. So, where is he? Lilla believes that this is Caderyn's way of stressing his disapproval of her and his unwillingness to accept her into the family. Callum's temper flares up, and he storms off to the city-sized Teryn spaceship to confront his father, with Lilla close behind. Upon their arrival, they come upon a heartbreaking scene: his elder brother has been murdered! The killer used a device infused with the dark element, acerbus, to conceal his identity. The clues indicate the assailant originated from Pada, a planet in Galaxy Six. Lilla, Callum, Caderyn, and the entire Teryn fleet rush to Pada to find out what transpired. Lilla's close friends also join them. Thus begins their quest to solve the murder of Callum's brother and bring the perpetrator back to Cathal to face justice and Caderyn's fury. Will they track down the culprit and ensure he pays for his crime? More importantly, will Callum and Lilla finally get to exchange their vows?

There is very little to dislike about this book, and I found it thoroughly enjoyable. The romantic scenes were sweet yet kept respectful. The storyline flowed seamlessly and was easy to follow. The characters were well-developed without being exaggerated. Although there were numerous characters, I had no difficulty keeping track of them. This novel works as a fantastic standalone read, despite being the third installment in the series. The author skillfully included relevant details so that I never felt lost—although I am eager to read the first two! There were a few minor errors, but they were infrequent, which is refreshing. I don't think the errors were significant enough to deduct points, and I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to any fan of science fiction/fantasy of any age.

I think this is a heavy science fiction for me, so I do not think I will read it. Your review was good, and it was amazing to read. Keep up the good work!

This seems like an engaging novel in which a fantasy world is created by the author to start a quest to discover Callum's brother's murderer. The well-constructed characters enrich the novel. Thank you for your great review!
