A short review but actually leaves me craving for entire book. The cover and title itself sounds like a movie. Wish I could get both: the book and it's movie

I like the discussion on friendship. Lara has a pose of close friends whom she shares with her secrets. She is obbsesed with magical powers.

Unfortunately, I happened to have read the second series of the book before the first one. It was enjoyable.

The book is given a supernatural setting. Azamantium is a land of blue grass, lilac skies and green seas. It is a land full of magic.

 The planet Azamantium is a strange place to live in. It is a land of vampires, oracles and has blue grass and lilac skies. That sounds strange. I cannot live in such a place.

I don't do much fantasy... well, this type of fantasy (I count paranormal on its own)... but this series sounds really interesting! The cover is enough for me to pick it up, even if to recommend to someone else (I was a bookseller for years and I have never really stopped), but the review pushes me to want to read both the first and this one. I really like the idea that the protagonist has to come to terms with being a dragon--it is very different from the paranormal stories I read/watch. :)
As for you & your heart & the things you said & didn't say, she will remember them all when men are fairy tales in books written by rabbits. (Schmendrick the Magician)

Everything flows from the last review to this one. It's a good thing the book is in series, it makes me look for what's next.

Love your honest review. The book also reflects Lara's duality: as a dragon and as Lara, as one of her flaws. The book preaches total acceptance of self to realize one potential. I'd have preferred Lourenco to make it more obvious as a child might not easily grasp that idea of self acceptance. The book also preaches the paradox of life, Lara (a good person) and a dragon(a magical entity of destruction) is combined as one. Though Lara at some point will overcome her master her dragon power, she still has to resort to that destructive entity (dragon) save the world. Is Lourenco trying to say that destruction can save a planet???( to a child?!) :roll2:

I like books having supernatural characters like dragons or magical powers. in the planet Azamantium, there are dragons whom are politically unwanted and magical obsession of its citizens.
