Review of Dragon Magic
“Dragon Magic” by Charles Townsend is an exciting magical thriller that transports the reader into a world of adventure. Calon is a young baker’s apprentice at Koltor. He got hooked up with a strange item, handed over to him by a magician on the run. Morvo, the magician, had the perfect magic tricks for creating illusions, and with that, he won the hearts of people all over the continent. Why will a magician be on the run and try to hide a mystical egg? Does he really have sincere intentions? Read on as the author takes us along on Calon’s journey through the Kingdoms of Koltor and Donbur and the mind-blowing things he discovered at each point.
Calon, in a bid to escape being found out, meets the Duke’s daughter, who constantly kept changing her name in order to maintain her guise. The names changed from Daisy to Rhona to Sally. Finally, her real name was discovered. They both embarked on a quest to stay alive and recover the reign of Koltor back to the right hands. Together with the magician and the dragon, they eventually devise incredible means to carry out their grand plans. Each part of this book was a welcome surprise, as I kept getting hit with wild twists and turns.
I particularly enjoyed the author’s writing style. It blends classical fantasies and beliefs with modern experiences. His innovative approach to magic adds more relatability to the genre. His detailed description of mystical beings and magical experiences will be a delight to lovers of thrillers and fantasy. The book highlights richly the concepts of friendship, perseverance, growth, and self-discovery. I also love the extent to which characters were developed. Calon was a very skilled baker, despite being very young, and also made what a lot of people believed were dumb jokes. Hella was very smart and optimistic. She showed great maturity, even when faced with dire challenges. Phagin was a man who betrayed the people of Koltor by disguising himself as an ambassador from Donbur, eventually overthrowing the Duke of Koltor.
I have nothing to criticize about this book. However, I noticed only a few errors, which did not alter my reading experience in any way. Thus, I am pleased to award this book a rating of five out of five stars. The author excellently did justice to this genre.
I recommend this book to people that love fantasies, magical stories, and tales of dragons. I also recommend it to young adults, as it is a very refreshing read and every single page is worth the while.

The world-building was immersive, with vivid descriptions of kingdoms, mystical creatures, and magical phenomena. The characters were well-developed—Kalon’s resourcefulness and wit, Hela’s intelligence and resilience, and the sinister motives of Fegin added layers of intrigue. The unexpected twists kept me hooked, and the author’s blend of classic fantasy with modern storytelling was refreshing.
This book beautifully explores themes like friendship, perseverance, and self-discovery, making it an inspiring read. Though I noticed minor errors, they didn’t detract from the experience. I wholeheartedly rate it 5/5 stars and recommend it to fans of fantasy, magical tales, and dragon-filled adventures!
