Like a Lily Among the Thorns by Karen S. Bell is the story of Gabrielle Bernstein, a librarian working in New York. She experienced an unhappy childhood, and she has to deal with life alone after her father, Philippe Justin Bernstein, abandons her and her mother for another woman. She strives to maintain a positive countenance even after losing her mother, who suffered severely from a broken heart. She later discovered that her father, who is now late, had left her an inheritance named B&B located in Vermont. She later realized that in B&B reside several earth goddesses who help the human race protect their world from climate crises. We are also introduced to the selected groups of people known as "earth-saviors" who possess magical powers to maintain balance and fight escalating climatic change caused by human activity, with Gabrielle Bernstein serving as their leader.

I loved how the author balanced the write-up of fiction, fantasy, romance, magic, and mythology with real-world climate conditions. I admire Gabrielle's character and how her life transformed from a rough state to a life of purpose. Her determination to experience the wonderful things in life and not let experiences beat her down is inspiring. Bell created this amazing story so that the reader can see and be more interested in climate matters than before. I enjoyed how this book gave us females a sense of power as it talks about harnessing the power of the "feminine divine."

I love everything about this book. Gabrielle's new-found purpose provided her with the family she desired. Countess Anastasia became a mother figure and mentor to her, guiding her down the path of discovering her feminine divine. Though this is a fictional story, lots of lessons can be learned from it. The emotions Gabby expressed in this story were different from what was felt. She has been through difficult times in her life, yet her demeanor remains cheerful. This shows a level of emotional intelligence on her part. Like a Lily Among the Thorns
has a good ending, with the author's style of writing very clear. I will recommend this book to romance fictional fans. I give it a 5 out of 5 stars rating for a well-edited, detailed, and error-free book.
