Personally, I'm glad to hear the mother took her son's word for it and had him show her his new power. I appreciate reading about parents who support their children rather than doubt their sanity.
I see your point. It is nice when parents believe their children.

Ooooh this sounds good! It sounds like a rather different concept from all the usual supernatural stuff which is currently on the popular agenda, which is something of a relief. Can live without the excess vampires these days. Would definitely like to read this.

It's definitely a bit of a different spin! Thanks!

Great review! I received a print copy of this book from a Goodreads Giveaway a couple years ago. I enjoyed the story, and when my step-daughter is old enough, I think she would enjoy it, too. I am also interested in reading the next book in the series, but I haven't seen any updates on when it will be published.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!
