Thanks for your review of The Engine Woman's Life. I sampled the first few pages and it didn't appeal to me. After reading your more detailed review about the dark subjects, mysticism, setting, this confirms my initial feeling and I won't be reading this book.

Oh... well...
Despite the cover and description, this book is definitely for mature readers only. And even within that subset, I’d recommend this book only to the bravest and the most adventurous of them all.
I'm just having a hard time reconciling that cover with the adult themes in the story! LOL Though it does sound interesting, I. must. stop. looking. at. cool. cover! LOL

This is a very detail review. But it seems the vocabulary and the expressions are a bit harder. I hope the reviewer can use simple vocabulary to review such a great book. Good job Laurel Anne Hill.

I'm even more intrigued after reading your review. The cover is a bit misleading if the book is as grown up as you say. Still, I do love the cover. Now I need to weigh your review, the Amazon reviews, and the sample to see if this one is for me. Thanks for your insightful review!

You did a very good job with this review. People who like this genre will enjoy reading it. The plot sounds intriguing and the timing makes it even more tempting. However, this is not my usual genre, so I think I will pass. Cheers!!

Thanks for you review.

I love alternate history books and especially love it when they incorporate steampunk and mysticism that show an alternate path for development. From what you have described the book is a little plot heavy, with a lot of twists and turns which can be a chore sometimes, but if the story is as gritty and realistic as you described, then it may be worth it. Also i have always loved my heroines to be strong and tough to face any situation and this story seems to fit that description

I loved your review but Im not so sure that I'd enjoy the book. The basic scenario sounds compelling, but it sounds as thing ran a bit out of control at some point.

Thanks for the warning! I don't think this book is for me. I don't like heavy themes and the paranormal. Your review is so thorough and clear that it enables us to see that this book is not for the young and should be guided accordingly.

Wow, fantastic review! The story sounds fascinating and more than a little bit complex. Being able to combine steampunk, fantasy, spiritualism and still tackle the difficult topics sounds like a huge task that she did quite well on! Your review really lets us visualize what's happening in the book. Thanks!
