Thank you for the in-depth review of Fish Wielder by J.R.R.R. (Jim) Hardison. The book cover and reading the first few pages definitely sets the voice of the book which is full of the humorous farce which you have described. This book might appeal to a male who likes this kind of voice in a fantasy. Though it appears to be well-written, I like darker elements to fantasy.

Okay, this is hilarious. :D

Hardison knows his stuff. He understands the genres of Sword and Sorcery, High Fantasy, and Epic Fantasy very precisely, and he wields words like throwing stars. Even his name on the cover is a poke at a major figure in the Fantasy field. The result is a blend of farce, satire, and cheese, with some slapstick for spice. Much of the humor is broad, some is low, and some is pointed enough that it pinks its target. That said, his humor appears mostly good-natured in intent and execution, full of in-jokes and weird juxtapositions (a hero who can't remember the word 'heavy' but can remember the word 'astronomical'?)

In a word, fun. Or maybe three words: lots of fun. :D

It seems to be similar to some fantasy books I have read before. I love the genre and this would be a great book for me.

This is a fantastic fantasy story packed with action. The hero is unique as he goes around busting the bad guys with a fish as a companion. I wonder what the real impact of the fish is on his exploits. He just could not be busted out, he is the good guy, remember? Thank you for the interesting review.

Since I have not read the sample yet, it's too soon to judge the book. However, I can see, judging by the review, that this is an atypical approach to the fantasy genre. We'll see. Thank you for the review.

This is a great review. The characters are well discussed prompting a great sense of imagination. The strength of the author is brought out by the ability to balance farce, action and battles that engage the audience thought out.

A very detailed review. This is such an interesting one with talking fish and a world which you enter due to the imagination of the actions described in the book, I'll check it out

Good review. Not sure I'm interested in a parody of fantasy novels. However, I love the humor and characterization in the bit I read.

I can not say that i Have read any of Jim Hardison's books but from the free sample of Fish Wielder I found it to be quite entertaining. At the beginning it had started out like a lot of other fantasy adventure books that I have read in the past. But as I kept reading silly parts kept coming up and made the story quite funny. Giving you the feeling that even though it will be a quick read you will definitely have a few laughs along the way. Definitely on my reading list :techie-studyingbrown:
