Interesting review! The premise of the gangster/fantasy combination is intriguing, but I read the sample of this book and found the many and varied errors really distracting, so I'll be passing on this one. I'm glad you enjoyed it, though.

Blood and Roses

In the words of the 'f*ck'n narrator': "...sometimes when you least expect it, the unexpected happens...And everything goes to sh*t." The story feels like NY with magic. And sometimes, everything does go to sh*t.

Gangster wars with magical weapons are undoubtedly a unique blend, but not my kind of reading. Great review anyway.

I enjoyed your review. While I was reading a sample of this book, I kept thinking that it was too over-the-top for me. But I may go back and give it a second read!

I like the bit about the loose alliance ensure an uneasy peace amongst the families; this could make an interesting dynamic. I'm not so sure about the mafia theme, but the rest actually sounds fantastic to me. Great review.

I really like the 40's style gangster angle! I wasn't expecting that in a sci-fi novel. It's also nice to hear that the author never lets the reader get too confident in the outcome by adding twists and turns. Thanks for a great review!

Since I'm not a fan of sci-fi or gangster stories, the plot doesn't really appeal to me. However, I appreciate your thorough review.

OMG! This book sounds so cool! I am an avid fan of science fiction novels, and this book sounds like it would be absolutely perfect for me! I like the gangster element to it! That is something new to me in the science fiction realm. I've not read a lot of novels that have that element to them. This book is absolutely going on my to-be-read shelf.

I usually like to read science fiction crime thrillers, but the plot of this book seems predictable. Great job on your book review!

I don't if I like the book. It sounds too violent for my taste. Gangsters killing each, swear words and other things that make reading it more than rough.

Nice review. Holy relics and fedora-wearing gangsters sound quite an original concept.
