Review of Shadow Eclipse Voyage
Shadow Eclipse Voyage is an incredible sci-fi book that transports the readers into the future and an alien planet without even a single warning for the characters we followed during this read. Clarke, our protagonist, is a humorous, somehow sarcastic, and relatable character who is a PhD student one day and a vampire the next. She is also transported to another planet, and, on top of that, she is forced to live two hundred years in the future.
As if this isn’t enough, Clarke also manages to catch the weirdest job on the spacecraft she now lives on and has to hide her recent transformation to a vampire while discovering her whole new world and new skills and abilities.
What I liked the most about this book is how messy the plot seems to be to someone who hasn’t read it yet and how well it turned out on paper. E.M. Gale is a master at writing weird plots, mixing both sci-fi with vampires and relatable characters that can be understood by every generation of readers. This is not an easy task, and I have to applaud not only the courage of the author but mainly the huge accomplishment it is to be able to make this mess work. Also, the fact that this book has a lot of dialogue must be one of its strengths, because it not only creates a sense of first-view perspective but also more of a connection with the characters.
I cannot find a single downside to this book. I found no errors whatsoever, which qualifies me to say that this book was exceptionally well edited, and I found the writing very captivating and profoundly developed. The book is very long, but it is also very fast-paced.
With that being said, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I did not expect to like this book this much, as the plot seems way too complex to be successful, but I was pleasantly surprised and cannot recommend this book enough to any sci-fi enthusiast or vampire geek that may find some comfort in this read or that can relate to some of the tons of topics discussed in this book, which makes it an incredible book for several different audiences.
