Lovely review. I also found the violence a little too dark for the young mages. It was an interesting read though.

I like that you commented on the ages of the characters and then gave a description of why you felt that way. With teenagers and young adults in my family, I like the knowledge of how appropriate reading material is for them. Your description has helped me to brace myself for my next read. Thank you.

Oh I just love that you also saw the similarities between this book and others!

I would categorize myself as a fantasy reader before any other genre and I was both sad and glad to find many other books represented in this one. I found myself looking for a bit more originality out of Rose. I am understandably late to the game on this book's discussion but I created a forum topic to discuss the ideas in this book that mirror those in other books.

I love Harry Potter and Game of Thrones, I may enjoy this! You wrote the review very well and the two main concerns you addressed were definitely on my mind. I definitely enjoy books with a lot of detail; and it is definitely concerning when 10-15 year olds are dealing with the threat of things that are more adult topics. I don't mind reading things like that, but it always helps when the characters are a more appropriate age.

Victor rose paints a wonderful picture of the typical sci-fi story line. You have your trolls, goblins, elves, and your powerful mages oblivious to his true power and/or it's limits. Rose then set you down the path of growth from the hero and his companions maturing them both as individuals and a team.
Although I give credit to the author for the creative backstory of each of his characters I found the lack of detail in many places in my reading to be somewhat agitating

This is an epic dark fantasy novel with action, magic, adventure, and an amazing protagonist. The book has a free sample on Amazon Kindle and has an awesome OnlineBookClub review. I rated the book 4 out of 4 stars and eagerly await the sequel. Congrats @Author_Victor_R on the BOTD.

End of the Last Great Kingdom is an epic fantasy story with magic students fighting against great evils. It's been described as a cross between Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. Congratulations to the author. Your wonderful story is well-deserved of the BOTD title. Thanks to the reviewer for making this book sound so interesting. I will certainly give it a try.
