Step into a world of intrigue and mystique with "The 36 Watchers: Book II Spring" by Dan Bar Hava. Unveiling the secrets of a covert society dedicated to eradicating evil, the '36 Watchers' possess extraordinary powers embedded in their very DNA, allowing them to traverse different dimensions and even travel into the future. At the heart of this thrilling narrative is Jenna Berg, a young Watcher from the bustling streets of NYC, on a daring mission to thwart an imminent evil intervention. Assisted by her uncle Josh, another skilled Watcher, Jenna faces a formidable antagonist—an ancient mythical force known as Yaldabaoth, taking the ominous form of a lion-headed serpent.

As the plot thickens, Jenna finds herself entangled in a dangerous game with Gonar, one of the last Verdenkinder under the lion-headed serpent's control. His relentless pursuit of Jenna raises crucial questions: Will Jenna succeed in outsmarting this eminent evil power? What secrets lie within the enigmatic world of the 36 Watchers? Can Jenna and her uncle Josh navigate the complexities of their mission and save the world from impending doom? Join the suspenseful journey as these questions linger, enticing readers to unravel the mysteries within the pages of this captivating book.

In this concise 126-page book, the author skillfully incorporates scientific, historical, and religious references, like electron spin, the Talmud, Menes (the first king of Egypt), and Bishop Eusebius. While the author's thorough research is evident in crafting the narrative, I occasionally had to search for terms and references to better grasp the concepts. The inclusion of a brief appendix at the end of the book further aided in enhancing my understanding.

Despite the occasional need for searches, the book remained thoroughly enjoyable. Jenna's journey to thwart evil offers a captivating cultural exploration of the Middle East and Africa, highlighting their rich traditions. This additional dimension significantly enriched my reading experience. Jenna's struggle throughout her journey and her moments of confusion deeply resonated with me. While a few typos were present, they did not detract from the overall enjoyment of the book. The occasional need for searches to understand certain points, however, did not diminish my reading experience. I found nothing to dislike in this book. Hence, I rate this book 5 out of 5. The book contains some non-borderline profanity and hints of sexual content, but nothing graphic. Considering this is the second book in the series, I recommend starting with the first book, "The 36 Watchers: Book I Fall," for a comprehensive understanding. This book is more suitable for readers interested in dissecting and studying the profound meanings incorporated within its pages.

I have watched many films in this mold and this story seems to have the potential to be a movie story. I think I would like to read this book, as your review made me wonder about the perspective the author took as a course of events. Your review is excellent as usual, Anu I enjoyed it.

Anu, this sounds like a great book - I like the concept of having powers embedded into their DNA! I enjoy these types of books that can merge science, history, and religion. The electron spin catches my attention for sure! Despite this being fiction, it has the additional perk of learning about new cultures, tradition, and geography. Ironic how much you can "learn" while reading fiction! I'm glad you included that the series would be best appreciated if one were to start at the beginning - this is always helpful! Great review as always, until next time...

Oh a fantasy story, interesting! Watchers with superpowers embedded in their DNA, villains with extraordinary forms, and a world quite different from reality. It will be thrilling to read about them.

Wow, 126 pages seems so short. Did you feel like you wanted more, or was the story wrapped up in that time? Thanks for the heads-up about reading the books in order; I'm going to follow your advice. It's always a pleasure reading your reviews Anu.
