On Airlie's eleventh birthday, there sits a meowing box atop her chair, concealing a delightful surprise within – a kitten! Covered in fur as dark as soot, this feline friend earns the affectionate name Sooty. From that moment forth, a mysterious bond forms between Airlie and Sooty, a connection seemingly transcending the boundaries of their minds, allowing them to anticipate each other's every move.

Airlie Sanderson, the offspring of a neuroscience professor and a practicing psychologist, emerges as an extraordinary individual. Possessing a brilliant mind, a touch of geekiness, and a hint of timidity, she wields unique talents as a detective and a creative problem solver, complemented by remarkable psi abilities. Her extraordinary journey begins with two invitations: one to a specialized school dedicated to quantum psychology and physics, the other to Camp Polis, a summer retreat situated in close proximity to the formidable hadron collider, orchestrated by Inspector Jonathan Humble. Camp Polis serves as a haven for children and their extraordinary pets, all sharing Airlie's remarkable abilities. Alongside school friends Yan and Lilly, Airlie forges new connections, embracing Georgie and her companion rabbit, Miffy, alongside telepathic Sandy and her calico cat, Cleo. Kate, who navigates the world without sight, relies on her faithful seeing-eye dog, Goldie.

However, tranquility is abruptly disrupted when one of them is mysteriously abducted, compelling Airlie to harness her unique powers in a relentless quest for rescue.

"Time for PsyQ" is a captivating science-fiction novel tailored to adolescents and young adults. Within its pages, the paranormal seamlessly melds with a heartwarming story of friendship among almost-teenage children and their cherished animal companions with supernatural abilities. The backdrop of a summer camp near the collider, where mind-blowing physics experiments unfold, adds to the intrigue. Airlie, our resolute and endearing heroine, who graciously wrote the foreword for this book, along with all her friends and their special pets, may very well capture your heart.

Marti Ward, an accomplished writer, educator, researcher, and entrepreneur, adeptly blurs the boundaries between science and magic in his writing.
Unfortunately, the text contains multiple punctuation and grammar errors, and the dialogues could benefit from more clarity. A thorough edit would unquestionably improve the narrative.
While I may not be the book's primary demographic, "Time for PsyQ" was indeed a pleasant read. Overall, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
