Marti Ward's "Time for PSyQ" is an exhilarating and captivating science fiction novel that delves into the realms of quantum physics and quantum psychology. The narrative revolves around gifted children and their extraordinary animal companions.

At the heart of the story is Airlie, an eleven-year-old who receives a black kitten named Sooty on her eleventh birthday. Overjoyed by this long-cherished gift, Airlie soon discovers that she possesses unique talents that defy conventional understanding. These talents enable her to uncover a series of thefts at her school and locate a missing dog named Luna. Her exceptional skills led her to a summer program organized by the police, under the guidance of Camp Director Jonathan Humble. Here, Airlie encounters other gifted children and their extraordinary pets, further unraveling the mysteries of her abilities.

Airlie's steadfast friends, Yan and Lilly, offer unwavering support as they join her in solving the enigmas that unfold. Yet, the sudden and mysterious kidnapping of Airlie's fellow camper, Kate, along with her dog Goldie, adds a layer of suspense to the story. What is the true nature of Airlie's gift, and can she muster her talents to rescue Kate and Goldie? The book explores these questions and weaves a captivating narrative centered on Airlie's journey to uncover the truth.

Marti Ward excels in character development, creating a rich tapestry of well-drawn individuals. The book is a thrilling blend of mystery, humor, and the bonds of friendship, with an endearing cast of pets, including Sooty, Nonsense, Goldie, Cocoa, and Fringe, each contributing to the story's charm. The inclusion of Lilly's distinctive pet, Parker the spider, comes as a delightful surprise in the story. The author skillfully immerses the reader in the story from start to finish, with the concept of "gifts" in the narrative explained in a coherent and engaging manner.

While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, particularly the inclusion of pets, I must note that the heavy focus on quantum physics and quantum psychology might prove challenging for younger readers. These complex concepts may require a more mature understanding. However, those with an interest in these concepts, as well as older children and adults, are likely to find the book thoroughly enjoyable.

In summary, I do not have any dislikes regarding the book, and thus, I grant it a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars. "Time for PSyQ" is an engaging and skillfully crafted story that will thoroughly captivate readers with its mysteries and adventures.
