Fantasy, magic, and mystery....three of my favorite elements, especially when executed as well as in this novel. Nice review.

The tale of Conor Archer.
I found the sample very difficult to understand. There are also A LOT of characters in this book, too many if you ask me. I do love that it's fantasy, there's so much surrounding Connor's life from the death of his mother to living a complicated life as a teenager. There's just too many characters in my opinion, I'll probably have to read more than once to understand the storyline. It seems like a great book. Very intriguing.

The book looks inviting to teens and even inviting for a tv series conversion. The review tells me it is indundated with dark secrets, adventure, suspense and horror: a surefire winner of an exciting read.

A Chicago teen transported to Wisconsin where he forced to choose between Dark and Light. A home where Christian traditions, Celtic myth and Native American folklore intersect. Is Good service or sacrifice? Is Evil the devil without or the devil within? A great combination of elements for an Urban Fantasy novel. A definite to-read. Great review!

Conor, just seventeen, loses his mother to cancer. He has no other family and no friends. Following his mother's dying wish, he goes back to his roots at Tinker's Grove. There he discovers the truth about himself. This I gleaned from the sample.

I can see Tolkien's influence on the author. The sample was fascinating; I'd like to read the rest of the book.

This book was the BOTD on the day I joined OBC. It's been a wonderful journey. Thanks, Scott and everyone!

Your enthusiasm for this book saturates this review! Thank you for approaching it with such an eye for complexity. Character development and world-building are such important elements in fantasy writing, and you touched on them quite nicely here.

I absolutely adore discover-your-bloodline stories! There's just something so fascinating about family history, especially with magic in the mix. I can never get enough of mythology either.

E. R. Barr's Roan: The Tales of Conor Archer is a #YA #UrbanFantasy book with a convergence of Christian tradition, #Celtic myth, and Native American #Folklore. It is a coming-of-age tale about a boy caught between making his own way and evolving into a destiny that was spoken over him thousands of years before his birth.

I'm glad this book has made an impact on you as a reader. It gave me the desire to read this book. Kudos to your awesome review!

Your review is very compelling for me to read this book. Your description of how the author developed the characters and described the scenes of the story are enough to convince me to read the book. Conor Archer has to decide whether he will fight for good or for evil. The mix of Christian tradition, Celtic myth, and Native American folklore will surely make an interesting twist on the story.

A blending of real history, cross-cultural legends and lore, complex character building, and believable rules for supernatural beings. Oh, yeah!

To realize that you are a part of a town's mythology and have a roll to play in the prophecies, while attempting to control your own destiny, would be completely mind-blowing.

You've got my attention. I am thoroughly impressed by your review. It is well written and entertaining. You have stirred my curiosity and created a feeling of anticipation that will only be satisfied by immersion into the world of Conor Archer. Well done. 💕

This review is so stellar that even though I’m not a big fan of urban fantasy (and I’m generally picky about any kind of fantasy), I’m tempted to give this a go! Thanks for making the story sound so compelling:)

The review has made several good points why this book is a must-read. My interest was evoked. Aside from the plot itself, it seems the characters are relatable and worth reading.
