Great review! I love your verbosity and the depth in which you explore the book. Definitely sounds interesting... though hopefully the name "Conor" was a pretty clear indication to the protagonist that he might have Celtic blood, haha.

While I'm glad that there are no useless plots and well developed characters, I'm not a huge fantasy fan and personally don't think I will enjoy this book.

Wow the review makes this book sound like a must read. I love dark fantasy and epic storytelling, so this sounds right up my alley. Connor is a fascinating character trying to find his way and trying to figure out who he is. Thanks for the awesome review.

Fantasy can be a hard genre because you can fail in so many ways: sound just like every other fantasy novel, sound nothing like a fantasy novel, fail to build your world or characters, spend so much time on world building that you forget to tell the story...yet this one sounds like it managed to get all the things to fall together. I am looking forward to reading it.

Based on your fantastic review, I'm looking forward to reading this one! I'm intrigued by the interlacings of the Christian, Celtic, and Native American lores as well as the urban fantasy element. Sounds like an intricate, well done book. Thanks you so much!

The book is a slow burn. It's a nice long read with a lot of payoff at the end. I highly recommend it for a series of rainy afternoons.
I love everything about this book. I will admit that at first instance the thickness of the book, being that of 542 pages, had me a little overwhelmed but by the end of the first few chapters I had forgotten all about it. The cover of Roan speaks as the content does. It intrigues, provokes thought and wonderment and calls ones name. One may say the cover portrays a dark mystery, and I suppose to a degree so does the content, but not the darkness that one may find hard to take. It is a magical darkness that engulfs you and speaks a voice of its own.

Roan: The Tales of Conor Archer offers darkness with a ray of sunshine, mystery with a little bit of the known and romance with love and pain

You have submitted a really good review. It's obvious you feel the book must be read. I only wish you told a little more about what happens in the book. I've downloaded a free sample and look forward to reading it.

Well, I'm torn. I haven't read fantasy in years - and never "urban" fantasy, whatever that means - so there's that, but the premise itself sounds really interesting. I'm especially intrigued by the shape-shifting aspect, not to mention the water wraith. I also like good character development, as long as it doesn't go overboard, and it sounds like it doesn't... Thanks for the great review!

Thank you for your fantastic review. I'm not into this genre, but it's always refreshing to read that an author has tackled a hard-to-enter genre with freshness and skill. Well done!

Aha.. An excellent review! Fantasy has always been (and hopefully will always be) my thing. Your review revealed a mystical world just waiting for me to explore. I feel that you are right, sometimes fantasy stories tend to go off track, simply because there are not any limit set on what can or can not be possible in an imaginary world. I'm glad this book did not have that weakness. Also I like the theme of fighting inner evils, in addition to the outside ones. So this book is definitely going to be a 'must read' for me. Thanks for the review!

Since urban fantasy is one of my best subgenres, I believe this review has led me to the right book.
