Maybe a little too much time spent talking about Jean-Claude and how bad she wants him, but other than that I found them pretty entertaining and full of action to make them fun to read.
If you continue to read the series she get more then one boyfriend and her powers grow. I love the series I just havent read them all I got thru 8 of them

I think part of the problem with the series can be traced back to an interview Hamilton did once where she mentioned she'd never quite gotten over killing one of the supporting characters in the first book. Because of that and the distress it caused her, she decided not to kill any similarly important characters in any of her following books. Of course, obviously not all books have to be as death happy as something like ASoIaF, but I think it does become a problem when a) your genre of choice is murder mystery thrillers and b) you're adding new characters with every book to the point where your main cast is a harem on its best days and a clown car on its worst.

Anyway, I also did the exact same with the Meredith Gentry novels...btw I believed for a long time I was in love with Doyle and Frost (dreamy) but....by the last book that came out I was growing bored :/ I hope one day I will pick them up again and start afresh and feel differently, but she hasnt had anything that has called to me recently

When I went back to the beginning, I realized that the setup for each book was basically the same. As a necromancer, Anita started with tons of potential but then it delved into the same repetitive sex scenes. My favorite book, though, is Obsidian Butterfly. I loved the perspective on Edward. I also think it has the most beautiful title and cover.
