Great review. I love sci-fi but you are right about some authors making it so tech heavy it becomes hard to read or stay interested. I love the fact that this is more character oriented. Will be trying out this new to me author. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic and insightful review! I like that this is both part of a series and stand alone. I'm intrigued by the theme of revenge never being satisfied because it means different things to everyone. Great job!

I'm not usually into a science fiction, but this sounds interesting. I think I would like that it doesn't include too many new words and that the focus is not solely on technology. Great job on the review!

Excellent review. This was a great pick for today's book of the day. I enjoyed reading the preview. Revenge being the theme, yes I found that in the preview.

Thanks for the fantastic review. It seems that it is a combination of spiritual and physical values of existence -- the destruction of the modern world by a scientific invention to control the climate and had a disastrous result. People did not die but they suffered, too. Interesting book to read.

Often, SF books focus excessively on technology, and introduce an inordinate number of new words that can confuse readers. Rest assured that this book is not like that; the narrative is focused on the characters, while smoothly incorporating scientific details that enhance the tale.
I'm not too big on SF for the exact reasons you mentioned I get confused too easily. But I've read a small amount that actually focused on the characters and found I really liked it. Thanks for including this in your review, I might give the book a go now! Also nice to hear that it's clean! Great review!

Interesting sounding book, even if I am not into a lot of SF books. Nice review and great choice for #BOTD!

That's when you know a book is good. When it's of a certain genre, but can still be enjoyed by more than just fans of that genre. Thanks for the fantastic detailed review!
