I know it's kind of weird but mine is Bellatrix from Harry Potter. I love how powerful she was with using magic and how ruthless she was to anyone that was in her way.

My favorite Wizard would have to definitely be Dumbledore.

Macross the Black... great character in lackluster series... But not really my outright favorite. Anomander Rake... What a name. Not a classic wizard, but a sorcerer... Semantics, I suppose.

Hm...this is tough. I love Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, and Harry Potter. I think they are all brave, talented, and amazing wizards!

Lord of the Rings is on my to-read list!

Gandalf, Macros and Belgarath are my favorite wizards. Cant decide between the three.

Wizards are a breed apart. They are alike but yet different. I have read a fair number of high fantasy and have found out that the wizards are the ones who know what will happen in the series even before any other charachter :). Sometimes I feel that they are the authors themselves trying to bring the book back on track. Like Macros the Black in Riftwar Saga. he knows how everything will end, even when he is stripped of power he knows the end. Wizards are like magic, longevity,Precognitive, librarian, custodian, archivist all mixed into one package and due to the mix the things get crazy sometimes.

Which series is that? I love finding out about books that I might not have read yet :)

Gandalf is probably my favourite. Was more likable in the Hobbit and pre-Balrog though.
If i was to have to pick a witch, it would be willow off buffy, but perhaps a new topic is needed for that

My favourite is definitely Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, but I also love Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter. I just love how strong he is and despite how rude he is all the time, he seems so kind hearted and just does his best to fit in.

This thread has assembled quite a wizardly collection! Easily enough to rival anything Hogwarts or the Arcanum could muster even if both were combined into one unholy school of teenage magical debauchery.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Ged (Wizard of Earthsea), the Wizard of Oz (duh!), or Dr Strange (comics totally count as books, right? Oh wait, I never specified it had to be literature).

Yeah
