We are voulhire: a new arrival under great skies is an introduction to a fantasy series by Matthew Tysz in a world setting where magic is practiced. Matthew Tysz starts by introducing the characters,We follow the drastic life change of Galen Bray as he leaves his homeland the land of the prince's that is in war,thanks to his dying uncle who sent for him with a dying wish for him to be an heir to his business.He comes to Voulhire and finds everything to be strange including peace and happiness since where he came from he only knew one thing: survival. He becomes friends with his uncle's executor and an imbuer and together they work on his skills on forging metal.

Meldorath is the former lord of Hillport, a small fishing town.During his reign he committed atrocities and left the people of the town terrified. He is believed to be dead but still it is a taboo for his name to be spoken out in public. Lord Eldus is appointed by the king to be the new lord of hillport and starts with projects to improve the livelihood of the people as well as help them heal.He tries to dig in further about what really happened in that town by asking questions around and going through old journals that he found in his new castle.As he arrives to the mysterious truth something terrible befalls Hillport.

There's an existence of another universe known as caromentis that is parallel to cosmos ;their physical world and it is believed to be where magic comes from and some people have a portal access to this world.

One thing I liked about this book is that Matthew Tysz has a very clear and vivid description of the fantasy world. He has different plots and settings and he found a way to make every setting interesting in a way that there is something interesting happening somewhere and this breaks monotony and keeps the reader engaged.

One thing I didn't like about this book is that it has
very many characters with different settings and alot going on which ruins the pace of the book since one could be intrigued by a character but you have to wait several chapters and pages before getting back to their particular story.It also makes it difficult to identify and focus on the major events in the story.

I rate this book 5 out of 5 being book one it has great potential of becoming one of the greatest stories.The originally of the story is amazing and it has a balance of magic, science and religion without any of them conflicting.

If you like magic, parallel universe, action and mystery I highly recommend you try We are Voulhire: A new arrival under great skies.
